Would you like to travel to Basque Country without spending lots of money? Esperando al Diluvio, written by Dolores Redondo is a book that will make you travel (in time) to the year 1983 in Bilbao, the basque capital.

Esperando al diluvio is a new dark novel based on real facts. Released in November of 2022, the book tells the real story of John Biblia, a legendary (because he was never caught) English serial killer of women of the '80s. The criminal was pursued by a Scottish police officer and the space of action is Bilbao.

The novel of Dolores Redondo described perfectly the environment of that time in the city. It was a contaminated city, full of rats and dark houses. The river was dirty and there were lots of young people addicted to heroin

On the contrary, the political issue of the basque country has not been forgotten either. “The novel obligated me to a wide documentation about lots of aspects that are absolutely historical and that appear in the novel, such as The War of the Flags (that was occurring in those days), the summits with ETA and the Spanish government and the possible collaboration between ETA and IRA”, Dolores Redondo said in an interview to TeleCanal Bilbao.

Nowadays, Bilbao is different from the place that is described in Esperando al diluvio but it is always interesting to know a bit of the story of the streets that we pass when visiting the basque capital.

At the moment, the Spanish version (original) is the only one available for sale.
